One of the biggest complaints I hear from members I meet across the country is about the ongoing difficulties they are having with HMRC and their levels of service. These range from the issuing of incorrect penalty notices to delays in answering post and correcting errors when they are highlighted.
The House of Commons Treasury Select Committee is keen to look at what’s happening at HMRC as part of a follow-up inquiry into the progress made to date on the cross-government efficiency programme and its effect on individual department's levels of customer service.
The Institute’s Tax Faculty is intending to submit evidence to the inquiry and needs your help to do this. To help them gather views and ensure that its comments are based on what’s happening on the ground, they would like as many members as possible to complete a short survey on their experiences with HMRC. . There are only 20 questions and it shouldn’t take you more than about ten minutes to finish. You can access the survey here. You may also want to share your experiences by commenting below.
Due to the Select Committee’s timescales, the Tax Faculty is working to a very tight deadline and needs the survey completed by 9.30am Monday 16 March 2009. We will of course let you know what the results say when they’re analysed as well as keeping you updated on the progress of the inquiry.
