HMRC’S payment enquiry helpline – PAYE & SA

Longer opening hours and PAYE too

Some practitioners may not be aware that HMRC’s Payment Enquiry Helpline - 0845 366 7816 - now deals with PAYE payment queries which would previously have been dealt with by the Accounts Offices in Shipley and Cumbernauld or by local PAYE offices.  Although the line is also referred to as the ‘How to Pay Helpline’, staff are able to view PAYE payments made, incentive payment credits, allocations and interest, etc.

The enquiry line is open from 8am to 8pm weekdays and from 8am to 4pm Saturdays which is much longer than the lines to the Accounts Offices used to be. As a result practitioners and employers are less likely to hear the engaged tone which has been a source of considerable complaint in previous years.

The same line can be used for self assessment payment queries.

Further information – including HMRC’s new bank account details – can be found on HMRC’s website.
