Faculties on tour with XBRL

What we said and what to do if you missed out

The past two weeks have seen the Tax and IT Faculties at venues around the country explaining exactly what iXBRL is all about and what must be done in order to e-file corporation tax returns using the new standard. Senior members of the HMRC Carter Programme also participated, explaining what it will involve for them and answering questions. Corefiling, who were one of our roadshow sponsors, gave a demonstration of how a set of accounts produced in word or excel format could be converted.

To support the course, we produced notes, Demystifying XBRL, in collaboration with KPMG. Tax Faculty members will have received a hard copy of these notes with the March edition of TAXline and they are now available to our all readers in electronic form. We also intend to publish through the website a series of questions and answers based on points raised at the roadshows, together with more information as it becomes available.

The slides used on the tour are also available for download:

Paul Booth, IT Faculty and

Anita Monteith, Tax Faculty

Finally, for the IT teccies amongst you, HMRC has just published the latest Update to the XBRL Technical Pack for Corporation Tax. This pack is aimed at Software Developers only and is not for businesses/corporations or Agents who may wish to use the service.
