How to apply and other practical information now available on BusinessLink
Our news item NIC holiday for new businesses last week gave a detailed description of this new government scheme to give businesses an exemption from employer’s National Insurance contributions (NICs). The scheme was launched on 6 September 2010.
There is now a section on the Business Link website about the NIC holiday scheme – or the ‘Regional employer NICs holiday for new businesses’, to give it its full name.
Among other things, the Business Link site gives details of how to apply: this can be done online (there is a link) or on paper (the forms can be downloaded). There is detailed guidance about who can apply – it is only open to new businesses outside London and the South East, and some businesses are excluded. There is also guidance on how to calculate the NIC holiday once the business has been accepted for the scheme.
As we reported last week, there is also a detailed Technical Note published by HMRC.
