The clauses will be published on 6 December
The Government will publish the draft clauses for the Finance Bill 2012 on 6 December 2011. This was announced by David Gauke, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, in a written ministerial statement last month.
The draft clauses will be published for comment, together with draft Explanatory Notes and Tax Impact and Information Notes. They will be open to consultation until 10 February 2012.
Under its new approach to tax policy-making, the Government has taken to publishing draft legislation destined for the Finance Bill in the preceding autumn. This was done for the first time in December 2010.
In recent months there have been a large number of public consultations on a range of tax proposals, mainly policies announced at Budget 2011. Responses to these consultations will be published on or before 6 December 2011.
