Exemptions (or credit for prior learning), are awarded against qualifications where an individual has been examined against a syllabus which matches the ACA syllabus to a minimum level, and is tested in a similar way. Applicants would also need to meet a minimum standard of grade/result in order to be awarded credit for prior learning (CPL).
ACCA students and affiliates are not currently charged for CPL applications.
The criteria for each type of qualification or degree cannot be listed here, but details of professional qualifications and degree programmes (including the ACCA syllabus) which have already been assessed against our criteria can be found in the CPL directory.
If your qualification is not listed, that does not necessarily mean that you would not be eligible for credit against some of the ACA exams. Individuals holding qualifications not listed in the directory can still apply for CPL, but would need to provide additional information such as syllabus and exam papers.
To see a list of frequently asked questions regarding applications for credit for prior learning, visit the CPL area of the student website. Alternatively, contact our student support team with questions regarding CPL on +44 (0)1908 248 040.
@ ALI
Please see my post above regarding applying for exemptions.
ACA tuition providers are listed on the student website. Our current tuition provider in Dubai is Phoenix Financial Training, who have been established in Dubai and have offered ACA training for some time now.
Hello
Does anyone know if ICAEW or any other company provides checking services of your pathway to membership application if it has been unsuccessful the first time?
ICAEW offers free workshops to help applicants format their applications; we also publish guidance from the examiners.
If you are based outside the UK, please contact us and someone will contact you to talk through your application.
Thanks for your response, is there any service where specific advice is given based on a specific submission because the workshop would only cover the overall format etc, I would like to get specifc advice and am ready to pay if provided for this professional advice.
HI
Can I appear for advance stage ( Business Reporting and Business Change only ) papers as independent student.
Kamran - to sit in November 2011 you must have registered and applied for your exams by 6 October. You can also apply for credit against the Professional Stage after you have sat the Advanced Stage exams, if you wish to do so.
The exams can be attempted in any order, with the exception of the Case Study. You can sit the Technical Integration (Business Reporting and Business Change) exams as an independent student.

The number of exams an ICAI qualified member will need to pass will depend upon your time in membership and the level of work experience you have attained since becoming a member of ICAI.
For full information on the ACA in India, see our dedicated web page.
@ Khalil
We can only advise you on how to complete the ICAEW qualification - we cannot provide advice on obtaining a visa.
You should visit the UK Border Agency website for advice on obtaining work and study visas.
I am ACCA member since 2009 and i did not do taxation and advance audit. My query is whether I am entitled for exemption from all the 6 papers in application module including Taxation and Advance Audit. Or do I need to sit for the Application module Taxation and advance audit paper together with the 3 Final Advanced papers. I have emailed to student support so many times but could not receive a conclusive reply.
your respond will be highly appreciated.
As an ACCA member you can apply for all six application level papers regardless of which ACCA modules you have taken. Full details on how to apply are available on our website.
Hi Ali and Aftab
At current there is no charge for CPL if you are an ACCA student. Please refer to the CPL directory to see what exemptions you are eligible for.
You must be registered with the ICAEW as a student in a training agreement or as an independent student before making your CPL application.
We also have a CPL and exemption section our website which talks about exemptions.
If you have further questions regarding fees you should contact the Student Support team below

Hi all,
If you are after info about exemptions please take a look at the CPL and exemption directory on our website to check what you have exemptions for.
Good Day to all,
I am an FCCA. For the past more than 5 years, i have worked for corporate and investment banks. A core part of my job is to analyse the financial strength of the corporates and lend them money. This also entails detalied risk analysis which includes but is not limited to repayment / financial /operational. As part of my ACCA training, i spent 10 months in audit (Horwath Hussain Chaudhry Pakistan) and 14 months in business advisory (with EY Ford Rhodes Pakistan). The remaining 12 months was non-accountancy work.
I think ICAEW shall consider waiving off the incremental 2 year training contract for FCCA that is currently required for ACCA members and let them sit straight for the advanced stage papers. I know quite a few FCCA's in Pakistan who are in a real dilemma as myself whereby we can't leave our career jobs to pursue a 2 year training contract (that would enable us to take the advanced stage papers) neither can we get our employers to get registered as an Approved ICAEW trainer for us to apply for ICAEW membership under the "Pathways To Membership Scheme".
Hi Qaiser,
This is not ACCA site. You need to visit www.accaglobal.com for the exemptions, however if you mean ACA (ICAEW), then you can follow the link given by Mervin above.
